what exercises help lose weight and not gain muscle?

i want an alternative to normal running to lose weight, but i dont want to gain any (significant) muscle in the meantime. any suggestions, for fast results but not too strenuous for a teen. thanks (:

Does anyone know any exercises to lose weight fast?

I am obese and need to lose weight fast. It is killing me inside! I am 5′9 and 194.8 pounds! HELP!

Cardio workout for the out of shape:
Day 1: 10 minutes of treadmill, elliptical, and stationary bicycle. (30 mins total)
Day 2: 15 minutes of treadmill and elliptical. (30 mins total)
Day 3: 10 minutes of treadmill, elliptical, stationary bike & just 5 minutes of stair stepper. (35 mins total)
Day 4: 15 minutes of treadmill, elliptical, and stationary bike (45 minutes total)
Day 5: 15 minutes of treadmill, elliptical, stationary bike, then 5 minutes of the stair stepper with an additional 5 minutes of jumping rope. (50 mins total)

As you begin to get more fit, more confident in your physical health, you can begin to increase your total workouts by 5 minutes and the intensity by an extra level.

I am starting a diet and I was wondering if their are some good excercises to develope a kick ass body for a guy. like a 6 pack of abs, pecs, guns, awesome legs and a great ass. Can you tell me some good exercises to get that body.

also no stupid answers if you don’t have a real answer please don’t answer at all.

umm i jsut eat right, like no junk, or fast food, or soda, and work out a lot like 5-6 days a week. for abs i do hanging leg raises, and figure 8’s. for pecs , bench press and push ups. leg extensions, calf raises, and leg press for legs. if u need help jsut im me. als

also dont forget cardio, like running.

I am 16, and am about 5′5 and weigh about 124. I have pretty broad hips compared to my waist, how can I shed that weight off of my butt and hips, and inner thighs?

It might just be the way your built. Like me, I have HUGE hips and a very little waist. But still to try and even things out a bit, I got one of those pilates core balls. Do sit ups and twist to the side and trust me any fat you have around your hips will fall off. Walking is key too. But if You don’t like any of those, summing also helps alot too. Good luck =^_^=

You won’t lose weight off of thighs simply if you do squats and lunges…even 1000 a day won’t make any difference except make them thicker + more muscular. If you want to shed excess fat storage from your thighs, do cardio. Your thighs and your butt are your body’s natural fat storage places, so when you shed pounds you’re going to see a difference there first. It will be most noticeable in your thighs, b/c that’s the fat storage place.

Combine squats and lunges with at least 40 min of cardio every day–I suggest jogging on the treadmill at 5.0 mph. Your thighs will be lean, slim and toned.

I have been running, walking, and jumproping for 30 minutes everyday. I have limited it to 30 minutes of cardio everyday and some other kinds of exercises for another 30 mintues.

I eat two times a day lunch and dinner and i only drink water. I drink alot of water everyday, and for snacks i eat fruits and vegtables like grapes and carrots.

I exercise twice a day, how long until i would start seeing results?

You don’t indicate your age in the question and there are certainly other issues but I’ll tell you my experience with the same issue.

There is no substitute for healthy weight loss for aerobic excercise. When I have been doing extensive aerobic exercise it seemed I could eat whatever I wanted and still lose weight.

I believe that running or walking (vigorously) are the best. Swimming is also excellent for toning and general health but I think

I am a high school girl looking for some excercies or workout routines that will help me tone and lose weight around my upper thighs.

Do you know anything that might work?

Actually walking will do this rather quickly if you walk every day. Walking will not only tone your thigh muscles directly but it also increases your metabolism which means more calories and fat burned even after your workout.

Many people dismiss walking because it’s so simple that it seems like it wouldn’t work. But walking produces amazing results and I’ve gotten tons of emails from visitors from my exercise site describing how well it worked and how surprised they were.

I have bulging discs and chronically degenerative discs in my lower back ( S1, L3,L4,L5).
